Facilities Technician – National Museum of the Royal Navy

working across Portsmouth and Gosport sites

Salary:  £19k to 20.5k pa

37.5 hours per week

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for a Facilities Technician to join a multi role team across the Portsmouth and Gosport sites.

Based at the Royal Marines Museum, this is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced team looking after the Maintenance and Properties of the NMRN.

We are looking for a person who can work under their own initiative and be proactive in all areas of repairs to ensure maintenance is completed with minimum disruption to visitors.

The Technician will work closely with the Facilities and Duty Managers to ensure we have safe and effective Museums and enable us to display our unique experiences.

Key Opportunities

• To be part of an experienced Facilities Team in a growing NMRN organisation.

• To lead an already effective Pre Planned Maintenance programme.

• To work with colleagues in Heritage, Resources and Visitor Experience Directorates.

• Represent the Museums at external organizations.

• Provide technical, security and support at events and first response to Emergency Callouts

Knowledge/Experience

• Applicants must have experience in a Mechanical and/or Electrical background.

• Knowledge of heating/boiler systems

• Working knowledge of Fire and Intruder alarm systems.

• Experience in Carpentry and Plumbing.

• Ability to work at heights both internally and externally.

Retail Assistants and Catering Assistants– Explosion Museum (Gosport) and Royal Marines Museum (Southsea)

 

National Museum of the Royal Navy

 

Salary:  £7.20 per hour

 

We have the following roles available at our Explosion Museum:

 

• 20 hours per week working 5 days per week, 10am to 2pm or 11am to 3pm, working alternate weekends - Fixed term contract until 4 September 2016

 

We have the following roles available at out Royal Marines Museum;

 

• 20 hours per week working 5 days per week, 10am to 2pm or 11am to 3pm, working alternate weekends - Fixed term contract until 4 September 2016

 

• 30 hours per week in April, May, September and October increasing to 37.5 hours per week in June, July and August, alternate weekend working – Fixed Term contract until 30 October 2016

 

Casual contracts with variable hours are also available, working across both sites, hours will subject to the demands of the business

 

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for Retail Assistants and Catering Assistants.  

 

You’ll need bags of enthusiasm and a positive ‘can do’ attitude to succeed in this role. You will also need to be flexible about shifts and willing to roll your sleeves up and get things done.

 

Key Opportunities

 

To assist in location based catering and retail, delivering targeted income, seeking to maximise revenue opportunities and minimise costs through effective management of goods and foodstuffs.

 

Delivering excellent customer service.

 

Knowledge/Experience

 

Demonstrable understanding of both customer service and customer care principles.

 

Knowledge of Food Hygiene and Environmental Health requirements/ and or willing to undertake basic food hygiene certificate (Catering).

 

Working in a customer focused environment with experience of delivering outstanding customer service.
